Driven by a passion for history
Michael Delaware is an Arizona native who left home at age 18. He lived 15 years in Georgia, where as a craftsman, he managed and owned a stained and decorative glass door and window business. He moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1999. He has lived in Battle Creek from 2001 to present and works as a Real Estate Broker.
Raised by a hard-working father who was a spirited storyteller, and a mother who was an avid reader and librarian, he has long valued the importance of learning about the past and finding a good story. He has continued his fervor for discovering local history in many places along his journey.
He has a YouTube channel, under his own name and a popular regional podcast ‘Tales of Southwest Michigan’s Past’. His inspiration is found in researching forgotten stories from yesterday in Michigan.
He volunteers at the Battle Creek Regional History Museum. When he is not researching and writing, he attends events around Michigan promoting his work.
His books include Victorian Southwest Michigan True Crime and Murder in Victorian Western Michigan through History Press, Inc. He is a sought after public speaker on local and regional history.
